Itinerary
Arrival in Marrakech
Transfer to a 3-star hotel in Marrakech.
Day 1: Marrakech to Ait Bouglez
This morning we begin our 230 kms ride with a mixture of tarmac, fast tracks through the foothills of the High Atlas. We pass the town of Damnat and start climbing even higher to ride on more technical tracks which lead us into the beautiful Ait Bouglez valley. Accommodation is in a delightful gite (hostel) near Zawyat Ahancal.
Day 2: Ait Bouglez to Bin El Ouidane
A day full of stunning riding in the lightly forested foothills of the High Atlas brings us past the La Cathedrale cliff before dropping down to the Barrage of Ben El Ouidane. Accommodation tonight will be in a hostel on the lake shore of Ben El Ouidane.
Total distance: 200 kms
Day 3: Bin El Ouidane to near Kerrouchen
We retrace our steps back up into the scenic foot hills before continuing onto a high altitude mountain piste heading north east. A mixture of narrow country tarmac and pistes for the rest of the afternoon, before an enjoyable forest trail that brings us to the village of Kerrouchen, which marks the southern boundary of the spectacular Middle Atlas cedar forest. We continue for a few kilometers in the forest before arriving at our bivouac for a relaxing evening around the camp fire. Accommodation: Camping.
Total distance: 250 kms
Day 4: Kerrouchen to Azrou
Start the day with an al fresco breakfast before continuing north on forestry roads for most of the morning. Some faster pistes on high altitude plains before looping back into the forest and arriving at the provincial capital of Azrou. Accommodation: 4 Star chalet hotel.
Total distance: 180 kms
Day 5: Azrou to Azrou
In our opinion this is the scenic highlight of the trip, it is a pity to leave this area without experiencing all it has to offer, so we have the option of staying here for a second night and doing two half day loops with slightly more technical riding through the forests and the meadows around Azrou. Some clients may wish to take advantage of the sauna and the massage facilities at the hotel. Accommodation: 4 Star chalet hotel.
Total distance: 160 kms
Day 6: Azrou to Fes
We manage a bit more forest riding as we head north from Azrou along some enjoyable country lanes, which pass by the cherry orchards that this area is famous for, before coming out passed the Dayet Aaoua Lake. We then descend to the town of Sefrou and complete the tour with a short half an hour run on tarmac into Fes.
Total Distance: 180 kms
